Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in luxury hotels, finance, retail, aviation, technology, professional services, and international business. Its hospitality sector values multilingual communication, efficiency, customer service, and experience with global brands. Life combines dense urban energy with excellent public transport, international dining, shopping, nightlife, beaches, hiking trails, and nearby islands such as Lantau and Cheung Chau. Housing can be expensive, especially on Hong Kong Island and in central districts, while Kowloon and the New Territories may offer better value. Foreign professionals normally require an employment visa sponsored by their employer, commonly through the General Employment Policy, and must meet qualification and salary requirements. Dependants may usually apply for dependant visas. Employees should arrange accommodation, health coverage, banking, tax registration, and document authentication before relocating. Cantonese is widely spoken, while English is commonly used in business and hotels.
