Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with major employment hubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Opportunities are strong in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, construction, technology, finance and engineering. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress, respect for religion and awareness of Ramadan customs are important. Lifestyle options range from beaches, desert activities and shopping to museums, restaurants and modern entertainment. Employers normally arrange an employment visa, work permit, medical examination and Emirates ID, while Emirati nationals follow different national employment and support arrangements. Relocating employees should confirm accommodation, transport, insurance, annual leave, gratuity and probation terms before accepting an offer. Living costs, especially rent, can be high, but many hotel roles provide staff accommodation, meals or transport. Public transport is excellent in Dubai, while a driving licence is useful elsewhere.
