Destination Guide

The Maldives offers resort and tourism opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, culinary operations, housekeeping, marine activities, engineering, wellness, finance and guest services. Resort islands provide a structured lifestyle with accommodation, meals and workplace facilities, while local islands have a more community-based way of life. Maldivian culture is shaped by Islam, island traditions and strong seafood-based cuisine; modest dress and respectful behaviour are expected outside resort areas. Employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and entry approval before starting work, with medical checks and document verification commonly required. Employers usually arrange accommodation and meals, but contracts and benefits vary, so candidates should confirm airfare, insurance, leave and gratuity terms. Relocation involves adapting to tropical weather, distance from family and limited shopping or nightlife on smaller islands. Male is the main transport and administrative hub.
