Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, marketing, finance, technology and international business. Hotel professionals can find roles across luxury properties, resorts, restaurants, travel companies and event venues, although competition is strong and employers often prefer relevant experience. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally English-speaking, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, safe neighbourhoods, diverse food, shopping, parks and easy regional travel. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications and government approval. Before relocating, candidates should budget carefully for rent, deposits, healthcare and transport, as housing can be expensive. Research the pass process, employment contract, tax obligations and neighbourhoods near the workplace before accepting an offer.
