Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city with a dynamic hospitality and tourism industry. Job opportunities are available in luxury hotels, restaurants, events, retail, aviation, finance, technology and international business. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with global influences; respect, efficiency and long working hours are common workplace expectations. Lifestyle options range from busy urban districts and excellent public transport to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong employer, and applications generally require a confirmed job, suitable qualifications and proof that the role cannot easily be filled locally. Employers often assist with documentation, although housing is usually the employee's responsibility. Rent can be high, so candidates should compare salary, accommodation, transport and benefits before relocating. Cantonese is useful, while English is widely used in hotels and business.
