Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality job markets. Hotels, resorts, restaurants, bakeries and catering companies regularly recruit chefs, especially those with luxury, international or high-volume experience. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a large expatriate community; respectful dress, punctuality and sensitivity during Ramadan are important. Lifestyle options include beaches, desert excursions, shopping, dining and a lively international social scene, although summer heat is intense and living costs can be high. Most foreign employees need an employment visa and residency sponsorship arranged by the employer. Companies commonly provide medical insurance and may offer accommodation, meals, transport or an allowance. Bring authenticated qualifications and employment documents, and confirm contract terms, probation, working hours, gratuities and accommodation before relocating. Dubai and Abu Dhabi are well connected, while other emirates may offer a quieter, more affordable lifestyle.
