Destination Guide

Australia offers opportunities in banking, technology, healthcare, engineering, construction, education, logistics, professional services and skilled trades. Melbourne is a major employment centre with a diverse economy, strong cultural scene and generally good public transport. Australian workplace culture is relatively informal, collaborative and focused on clear communication, safety and work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from city dining, sport and arts to beaches, national parks and regional travel. Living costs, particularly rent, can be high in Melbourne and other major cities, so salary and housing should be considered carefully. International workers usually need an appropriate visa, such as an employer-sponsored Skills in Demand visa, a skilled migration visa or a temporary graduate visa. Eligibility depends on occupation, qualifications, experience, English ability and employer sponsorship. Before relocating, check official Australian immigration requirements, arrange health insurance where required, understand tax and superannuation, and research housing, schooling and transport. Australia’s seasons vary by region, and Melbourne is known for changeable weather.
