Destination Guide

Australia is a large island country with strong employment opportunities in banking, financial services, technology, healthcare, engineering, education, construction and professional services. Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Perth are major employment centres, while Canberra has extensive government and regulatory work. Australian workplaces are generally professional, diverse and relatively informal, with emphasis on collaboration, inclusion and work-life balance. Lifestyle options range from urban culture, restaurants and sport to beaches, national parks and outdoor activities. Living costs, especially rent, can be high in Sydney and Melbourne. Skilled professionals may qualify for employer-sponsored visas, skilled independent or state-nominated visas, depending on occupation, experience, English ability and eligibility. Relocating typically involves securing employment, arranging health cover, finding accommodation and understanding tax, superannuation and employment rights. Australia’s distances are substantial, so location and commuting should be considered carefully.
