Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in banking, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, hospitality and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern shopping areas, diverse food options and lively neighbourhoods, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Employment generally requires an employer-sponsored pass. Professionals commonly use the Employment Pass, while eligible mid-skilled roles may qualify for an S Pass; approval depends on salary, qualifications, experience and prevailing government criteria. Relocating employees should arrange valid work authorisation before starting, secure accommodation, budget for deposits and healthcare, and understand tax obligations. Central areas are convenient but expensive; suburbs such as Tampines, Jurong East and Woodlands can offer better value.
