Job Description

This role requires an appropriate Biomedical Science degree, professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council, and substantial experience in transfusion science within an accredited laboratory. The successful candidate will support the Blood Transfusion Manager, supervise staff, maintain safe and effective transfusion services, review quality and governance requirements, investigate incidents, and contribute to service development. Applicants should have strong technical knowledge of blood grouping, antibody investigations, compatibility testing and blood component management. Excellent communication, leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills are expected, along with the ability to work accurately under pressure, participate in out-of-hours services when required, and uphold UK transfusion regulations and quality standards.
