Job Description

The Occupational Therapist will assess and treat patients recovering from stroke, supporting rehabilitation, independence and safe discharge. Duties include completing functional assessments, developing personalised treatment plans, providing therapeutic interventions, working with families and carers, and collaborating with nurses, physiotherapists, doctors and community services. Applicants should hold an approved occupational therapy qualification, be registered with the HCPC and demonstrate knowledge of stroke rehabilitation and wider neurological care. The role requires sound clinical judgement, effective communication, accurate record keeping and the ability to manage a varied caseload. Candidates are expected to work compassionately, promote patient-centred care, contribute to multidisciplinary decision-making and maintain continuing professional development. Previous NHS or hospital experience is advantageous, while newly qualified therapists may be considered depending on the vacancy level.
