Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, information technology, engineering, hospitality, finance, logistics, healthcare, education, and international business. Colombo and nearby industrial zones provide the widest choice of professional roles, while Kandy, Galle, and regional towns offer growing opportunities in tourism, services, and manufacturing. The island has a warm tropical climate, welcoming communities, diverse religions, excellent food, and a relaxed lifestyle shaped by beaches, tea country, wildlife, and historic cities. Living costs are generally lower than in many Western countries, although accommodation in Colombo is more expensive. English is widely used in workplaces; Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages. Foreign nationals normally need an employment or residence visa sponsored or supported by an approved employer, and should confirm current requirements with Sri Lankan immigration authorities. Interns should secure written placement details, accommodation, insurance, and work authorization before travelling.
