Destination Guide

For Offshore & Rig Operations, island assignments often combine demanding rotational work with a close-knit international culture. Job opportunities include hook-up engineers, drilling personnel, commissioning specialists, welders, electricians, mechanical technicians, marine crew and HSE professionals. Life is practical rather than resort-like: accommodation, meals, transport and medical support are commonly arranged at the worksite, while leave periods allow time away from the island. Safety, punctuality, teamwork and respect for local customs are highly valued. Visa and work-permit requirements depend on the island country and project sponsor; employers usually arrange sponsorship, offshore permits, medical checks and travel documentation. Candidates should confirm passport validity, vaccination rules, offshore certificates, insurance, tax treatment and rotation schedules before relocating. Families may not be able to relocate to remote project islands, so schooling and housing should be researched separately. Exact guidance requires the confirmed project location.
