Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied island destinations and strong hospitality opportunities, particularly in Langkawi, Penang, Tioman, Redang, Pangkor and parts of Sabah. Jobs are available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, diving operations, wellness centres and tourism services, with demand increasing during peak holiday seasons. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in hotels. Island life is generally relaxed, warm and outdoors-focused, with beaches, seafood, water sports and nature activities, although transport and specialist services may be limited away from major towns. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must handle the relevant immigration process before work begins. Applicants should confirm accommodation, meals, transport, medical insurance, service charge and working hours in the offer. Kuala Lumpur or Penang can be useful arrival points, depending on the assigned property.
