Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and major business districts. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally fast-paced, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Public transport is clean and efficient, although accommodation and everyday expenses can be high. Popular leisure options include hawker centres, museums, gardens, beaches and neighbourhoods such as Little India and Chinatown. Foreign workers normally need an employer-sponsored work pass; the appropriate pass depends on salary, qualifications and occupation, and the employer usually submits the application. Before relocating, candidates should confirm housing costs, medical coverage, contract terms and shift arrangements. Singapore’s hot, humid climate and occasional heavy rain make breathable clothing and practical footwear useful.
