Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, engineering, technology, finance and healthcare. Its culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern shopping areas, diverse food options and vibrant cultural districts. Housing can be expensive, especially near central areas, so many workers live farther from the city and commute by MRT. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation. Applicants should confirm eligibility and pass requirements with the employer before relocating. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so suitable clothing and accommodation planning are important.
