Destination Guide

Malaysia is not one island but a country with mainland and island destinations, including Langkawi, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and parts of Sabah and Sarawak. Hospitality jobs are available in luxury hotels, resorts, restaurants, events, tourism and wellness, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi and coastal resort areas. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in tourism, while Malay is the national language. Lifestyle ranges from busy city living to relaxed beaches, tropical weather and affordable local food. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval and documentation handled through the company. Relocating candidates should confirm accommodation, medical cover, transport, tax, probation terms and dependent arrangements before accepting an offer. Resort locations may offer staff housing or meals, but living costs and amenities vary considerably by island and property.
