Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, finance, technology, retail, aviation and digital commerce, with many regional roles based on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences, and English is widely used in business, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable. Life is fast-paced, urban and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, beaches, hiking and vibrant neighborhoods. Housing can be expensive, so salary, accommodation and commuting should be considered carefully. Foreign professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by an eligible employer; the company normally supports the application, and approval depends on qualifications, a genuine job offer and market-level pay. New arrivals should arrange housing, insurance, banking and tax registration, and check current Immigration Department requirements before relocating.
