Destination Guide

Australia is a large island country with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, food and beverage, healthcare, construction and technology. Cairns and other coastal destinations offer resort, conference and tour-related work, although employment can be seasonal and competition is strongest during peak periods. Australian workplace culture is generally practical, direct and inclusive, with emphasis on punctuality, safety, teamwork and work-life balance. Lifestyle varies from relaxed tropical living in Cairns to busy metropolitan life in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane; housing and transport costs also vary considerably. Most overseas applicants need a suitable visa, such as an employer-sponsored visa, skilled visa or Working Holiday visa, depending on nationality, age, qualifications and occupation. Candidates should confirm eligibility through the Australian Department of Home Affairs, budget for accommodation and health insurance, and check whether the employer provides relocation assistance or sponsorship before accepting an offer.
