Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected city-state with opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics and retail. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Lifestyle is convenient and fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks and beaches, although accommodation and daily expenses can be high. Hospitality employees should expect structured service standards, professional workplaces and shift-based schedules. Foreign nationals generally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or relevant work permit; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government requirements. Employers commonly assist with the application, but candidates should confirm the current rules with Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. Popular residential areas are linked efficiently to the city by MRT and buses.
