Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, food and beverage, tourism, technology, finance and healthcare. Its culture blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and Western influences, reflected in its festivals, languages and famous hawker food. Life is clean, safe and highly connected, with excellent public transport, modern shopping areas, parks and diverse dining. Accommodation can be expensive, so new arrivals should budget carefully and consider shared housing or locations outside the city centre. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass; the appropriate pass depends on salary, qualifications and role, and the employer normally handles the application. A valid passport, signed employment contract, medical checks where required and recognized culinary experience may be needed. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. New staff should confirm housing, meals, transport, medical coverage, working hours and benefits before relocating.
