Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities on islands and coastal destinations such as Langkawi, Penang, Pangkor, Redang, Perhentian and parts of Sabah. Jobs are commonly available in hotels, resorts, restaurants, diving operations, guest services, wellness and events, with stronger seasonal demand during school holidays and peak travel periods. Local culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous traditions, and English is widely used in tourism. Lifestyle can be relaxed and outdoor-focused, with beaches, seafood, marine activities and a lower cost of living than many major international destinations, although remote islands may have fewer services and higher transport costs. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored employment pass, and they should secure the offer before entering for work. Applicants should verify visa rules, accommodation, insurance, transport and tax obligations with the employer and Malaysian authorities.
