Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotel revenue management, reservations, sales, finance, food and beverage, engineering, wellness and guest services, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and resort areas. The country combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous cultures, with diverse cuisine, festivals and welcoming communities. Lifestyle costs are generally moderate, although central Kuala Lumpur and popular island resorts can be more expensive. Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah and Sarawak provide beaches, nature and a slower pace, while Kuala Lumpur offers stronger professional networks and urban conveniences. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must support the application before work begins. Candidates should confirm visa eligibility, accommodation, taxation, healthcare and relocation benefits directly with the employer. English is widely used in international hotels, while Malay and other local languages are valuable socially.
