Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Hospitality jobs are concentrated around Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa, Changi and major convention areas. The culture is multicultural, orderly and generally welcoming, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay and Tamil. Life is convenient, safe and well connected by MRT and buses, although rent and daily expenses can be high. New arrivals often share accommodation or live farther from the city centre to reduce costs. Foreign employees normally need employer-sponsored permission such as an S Pass or Employment Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and government requirements. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Before relocating, confirm accommodation, medical coverage, contract terms, work hours and whether meals, transport or staff benefits are included.
