Destination Guide

Singapore is a highly developed city-island and a major Asian hub for hospitality, tourism, finance, technology and healthcare. Job opportunities are strongest in hotels, restaurants, events, aviation, retail and international businesses, with English widely used at work. The culture is multicultural, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences; daily life is safe, efficient and convenient, though accommodation and dining in central areas can be expensive. Public transport is excellent, and beaches, parks, hawker centres and diverse neighbourhoods provide plenty to explore. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, and eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and current government criteria. Employers usually guide successful candidates through the application process. Before relocating, confirm housing costs, medical coverage, taxation, probation terms and whether relocation assistance is included.
