Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, spas, tourism, retail, healthcare, finance, and technology. Its culture is multicultural, with Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences reflected in food, festivals, and daily life. Public transport is efficient, neighbourhoods are generally safe, and English is widely used at work. Living costs, especially rent, are high, so many workers share accommodation or choose housing outside the central districts. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored work pass; the appropriate pass depends on salary, qualifications, and job level, and the employer normally handles the application. New arrivals should budget for housing deposits, transport, meals, insurance, and possible relocation expenses.
