Destination Guide

The Philippines offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, business services and retail, particularly in Metro Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan and other major destinations. Workplaces are generally relationship-focused, and Filipino culture places strong value on hospitality, family, respect and teamwork. Lifestyle differs by island: Manila is busy and urban, Cebu combines city life with beaches, while Boracay and Palawan offer a slower resort-oriented environment. English is widely used in business and hospitality, making the country accessible to international applicants. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate visa, and should confirm requirements with the Philippine Bureau of Immigration before relocating. Employers may assist with documentation, but candidates should budget for housing, transport, healthcare and flights. Local salaries can be modest compared with Western markets, although hotel roles may include service charge, meals, accommodation or performance incentives.
