Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and resort areas along the coast. Jobs are available in hotels, restaurants, spas, tourism, events, and guest services, with English widely used and Malay, Mandarin, or other languages useful. The culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous traditions, reflected in food, festivals, and everyday life. Living costs are moderate, though tourist islands can be more expensive and seasonal. Popular island lifestyles include beaches, diving, hiking, markets, and relaxed outdoor activities, while cities provide better transport and career progression. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or suitable work permit before starting work; requirements depend on nationality, salary, and role. Employers generally handle much of the application process. Candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, service charge, transport, and visa support before relocating.
