Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Its culture is multicultural, shaped by Chinese, Malay, Indian and international communities, with English widely used at work. The lifestyle is safe, efficient and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, dining and healthcare, although rent and daily expenses can be high. Hospitality staff commonly work shifts, weekends and public holidays. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary and occupation; approval is handled through Singapore's Ministry of Manpower. Secure a written offer before relocating and check accommodation, medical coverage, taxes and pass conditions. Singapore has no traditional resort-island setting, but nearby beaches and smaller islands provide leisure options.
