Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in finance, hospitality, technology, trade, retail and professional services. The city is fast-paced, international and highly connected, with Cantonese, English and Mandarin widely used in business. Employees enjoy excellent public transport, diverse dining, vibrant arts and nightlife, hiking trails, beaches and convenient access to nearby islands and mainland China. Housing is expensive, especially in central districts, so many residents choose areas such as Kowloon, the New Territories or outlying islands for better value. Eligible overseas professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by a local employer, with approval depending on qualifications, salary, experience and whether the role cannot readily be filled locally. Employers commonly assist with sponsorship and relocation guidance. New arrivals should budget for deposits, healthcare, transport and accommodation, and check current immigration and tax rules before moving.
