Life is energetic and convenient, but accommodation can be expensive; shared housing or living in Kowloon and the New Territories may reduce costs. Employees normally need an employer-sponsored Hong Kong employment visa before starting work. The employer generally provides the contract and supporting documents, while applicants submit proof of qualifications, experience and a valid passport. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, health insurance where appropriate, banking access and an Octopus transport card.
