Destination Guide

Malaysia offers strong opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor and Cyberjaya, particularly in technology consulting, AI, software, shared services, finance and engineering. Kuala Lumpur provides the widest job market, modern transport, international schools, hospitals, shopping and diverse dining, while Penang combines a growing digital sector with heritage streets, beaches and a slower lifestyle. Langkawi and other islands are popular for holidays rather than permanent technology careers. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in professional settings, while Malay is the national language. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or Australia, though central Kuala Lumpur housing can be expensive. Foreign professionals usually need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass, with approval handled by the company. Bring certified qualifications and passport documents, and check current immigration rules before relocating.
