Destination Guide

Malaysia offers technology opportunities mainly in Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley, with additional roles in Penang, Johor, and Sabah or Sarawak. Kuala Lumpur provides the broadest employment market, international schools, shopping, healthcare, and public transport, while Penang combines a strong technology sector with beaches, heritage areas, and a slower lifestyle. Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak are popular for nature, diving, and island travel, though career options there are more limited. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and indigenous influences; English is widely used in professional settings. Living costs are generally lower than in Singapore or major Western cities, but central Kuala Lumpur rents can be significant. Foreign employees normally need an Employment Pass sponsored by the employer, with approval before starting work. Candidates should confirm visa, tax, healthcare, dependent, and relocation arrangements directly with Accenture.
