Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with strong opportunities in technology consulting, cloud computing, AI, cybersecurity, finance, healthcare, logistics and regional headquarters. English is widely used at work, while Mandarin, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally formal in business settings, with excellent public transport, safety and healthcare. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, although suburban neighborhoods are well connected by MRT and buses. Singapore offers diverse food, shopping, parks, beaches and convenient regional travel. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and current government criteria. Employers commonly support applications, but approval is not automatic. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, insurance, transport and daily expenses, and verify tax, visa and relocation details before accepting an offer.
