Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in artificial intelligence, software engineering, research, finance, healthcare, education, logistics, and technology startups. The country is multicultural, safe, highly connected, and widely uses English in workplaces and daily administration. Life is convenient, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food, and many parks and coastal areas, although housing and general expenses can be high. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to salary, qualifications, and government approval. Researchers may also receive relocation assistance, depending on their appointment. New arrivals should arrange housing early, understand employment conditions, obtain medical coverage, and budget for rent, transport, deposits, and utilities. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, but air-conditioning is common in workplaces and homes.
