Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in universities, research institutes, healthcare, technology, finance, education, and multinational companies. Research careers are concentrated around institutions such as NTU, NUS, A*STAR, hospitals, and private laboratories. The culture is multicultural, efficient, and generally professional, with English widely used at work. Lifestyle is convenient and safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern amenities, diverse food, and easy access to parks and regional travel. Housing can be expensive, especially near central districts, so many newcomers share apartments or live farther from campus. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, and current government requirements. Before relocating, candidates should confirm pass sponsorship, healthcare coverage, taxes, contract length, and accommodation costs. NTU’s campus is well connected to public transport and western Singapore housing areas.
