Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in education, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics, research, and professional services. English is widely used at work, while Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly, and generally fast-paced, with excellent public transport, reliable infrastructure, diverse food, and safe neighbourhoods. Housing can be expensive, especially near central areas, so many newcomers consider shared accommodation or locations close to MRT lines. Employment Passes are commonly used for qualified professional roles, while S Passes may apply to eligible associate-level positions; approval depends on salary, qualifications, and government criteria. New arrivals should budget for rent, healthcare, transport, and an initial deposit. Singapore's tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain.
