Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in universities, research, finance, technology, healthcare, logistics, and professional services. The culture is multicultural, orderly, and generally fast-paced, with English widely used at work and in daily life. Residents enjoy efficient public transport, safe neighbourhoods, excellent food, shopping, parks, and easy access to regional travel. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, while suburban locations offer more affordable options near MRT lines. Foreign professionals normally need an Employment Pass or S Pass sponsored by an employer; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience, and government assessment. Before relocating, arrange a valid work pass, accommodation, health insurance, banking, and tax registration. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain. NTU’s campus is in the west, and commuting from central districts is practical but may take 35–60 minutes.
