Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with opportunities across education, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics, tourism and creative communications. English is widely used at work, while Malay, Mandarin and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally safe, with a strong food scene, public transport network and a blend of modern districts, heritage areas, parks and waterfront spaces. Housing can be expensive, especially near the city centre, so many newcomers consider shared apartments or locations near MRT lines. Employment Pass eligibility depends on salary, qualifications and the employer’s application; S Pass routes may apply to some eligible roles, while dependants may require separate passes. Employers usually guide successful applicants through the process. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, healthcare and daily expenses, and verify current immigration requirements before relocating.
