Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island with opportunities in education, hospitality, technology, healthcare, finance, logistics, and public services. English is widely used at work, while the population reflects Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international cultures. The lifestyle is safe, efficient, and urban, with excellent public transport, shopping, parks, museums, and diverse hawker food. Housing ranges from shared rooms and HDB flats to private apartments; rent can be substantial, especially near central areas. Employment Passes and S Passes are common routes for foreign professionals and skilled workers, subject to salary, qualifications, employer sponsorship, and government approval. Employers usually handle the application. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, healthcare, deposits, and daily expenses, and check current Ministry of Manpower requirements before relocating. Singapore’s warm, humid climate makes lightweight clothing and year-round air-conditioning useful.
