Destination Guide

Singapore offers opportunities in education, technology, finance, healthcare, government, research, communications, and international business. The culture is multicultural and generally orderly, combining Chinese, Malay, Indian, and global influences; English is widely used at work. The lifestyle is convenient, safe, and highly connected, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks, and easy access to regional travel. Housing is the largest expense, especially near central areas, while public transport and local food can be relatively affordable. Foreign professionals usually need an appropriate work pass, commonly an Employment Pass or S Pass, sponsored or supported by the employer and subject to government requirements. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, healthcare coverage, banking, and tax matters. Singapore’s warm, humid climate suits outdoor living, although frequent rain and high humidity are normal. NTU is in the western part of the island, with campus housing and nearby residential areas available.
