LARC Specialist Nurse

Job Description

The LARC Specialist Nurse provides expert contraceptive care, including assessment, counselling, insertion and removal of long-acting reversible contraception such as contraceptive implants and intrauterine devices. The role typically requires current NMC registration, relevant nursing experience, recognised contraception and sexual-health training, and demonstrated competence in LARC procedures. The successful candidate is expected to deliver safe, inclusive, evidence-based care; obtain valid consent; maintain accurate clinical records; support safeguarding and infection-control standards; and work collaboratively with GPs, sexual-health teams and community services. Strong communication, patient-centred decision-making, confidentiality, organisation and the ability to work independently across clinical settings are essential.
