The Assistant in Nursing (AIN) supports nurses and aged-care residents with personal care, hygiene, mobility, meals, comfort and daily activities. Requirements commonly include an Australian Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or equivalent, relevant aged-care experience, the right to work in Australia, vaccinations and health screening, a current police check, and willingness to complete mandatory training. Candidates should be compassionate, reliable, physically capable, respectful of residents’ privacy and cultural needs, and able to work day, evening, weekend and overnight shifts. Strong communication, teamwork and accurate reporting are important. Depending on the assignment, a current first-aid certificate and relevant state compliance checks may also be required.
