Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with strong employment opportunities in banking, business-process services, technology, tourism, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and retail. Metro Manila, including Makati, offers the widest range of corporate jobs, but Cebu, Davao, and other urban centers are also growing. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, family-oriented, and English is widely used in workplaces. Urban living provides extensive dining, shopping, beaches, and public transport, although traffic and housing costs can be significant in Manila. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work visa, commonly a 9(g) prearranged employee visa, and may need an Alien Employment Permit. Relocating employees should arrange a formal job offer, passport, medical and immigration documents, suitable housing, health insurance, and a realistic transport budget. Local salaries and benefits vary considerably by industry and experience.
