Destination Guide

The Philippines offers job opportunities in banking, shared services, technology, healthcare, education, tourism, manufacturing, and business-process outsourcing. Metro Manila, including Makati, Taguig, and Quezon City, has the broadest professional market, while Cebu and Davao are important regional centers. Filipino culture is generally welcoming, family-oriented, community-minded, and influenced by Spanish, American, and Asian traditions; English is widely used in workplaces. Lifestyle costs vary, with Manila housing and commuting usually more expensive than provincial areas. The country has tropical weather, diverse beaches and mountains, and active food and social scenes, although traffic and seasonal typhoons can affect daily life. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and an appropriate visa, commonly a 9(g) employment visa. Employers often assist with documentation. Relocating requires planning for housing, healthcare, taxation, transport, and local registration.
