Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, sustainability, engineering, information technology, tourism, finance, logistics, and business services, with Colombo serving as the main commercial hub. The country has a warm tropical climate, diverse landscapes, strong community values, and a culture influenced by Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, and Christianity. Daily life is generally affordable compared with many international destinations, although accommodation and imported goods can be costly in Colombo. English is widely used in workplaces, while Sinhala and Tamil are the main local languages. Foreign nationals usually need an appropriate employment visa or residence permission arranged with employer support; an ordinary tourist visa does not authorize employment. Relocating employees should confirm sponsorship, health insurance, tax obligations, accommodation, transport, and documentation requirements before arrival. Public transport is inexpensive, while private transport is more convenient in urban areas.
