Destination Guide

Sri Lanka offers opportunities in apparel manufacturing, technology, engineering, finance, tourism, logistics, healthcare, and business services. Colombo and nearby industrial areas provide the broadest employment market, while cities such as Kandy, Galle, and Katunayake also have significant opportunities. The culture is welcoming and diverse, shaped by Sinhalese, Tamil, Muslim, and Burgher communities, with Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic, and Christian traditions. Life combines affordable local food and transport with growing modern facilities, although traffic and public services can vary. The island provides beaches, mountains, wildlife parks, and historic cities, making it attractive for outdoor activities. Foreign nationals generally need an appropriate employment visa or residence approval arranged with employer support; tourist visas do not permit employment. Relocating employees should confirm sponsorship, accommodation, healthcare, taxation, and dependants’ permissions before accepting an offer.
