Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city-state with opportunities in aerospace, electronics, software, engineering, finance, logistics, healthcare and advanced manufacturing. English is widely used at work, while Chinese, Malay and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient and generally respectful, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food and easy access to regional travel. Housing can be expensive, especially in central areas, though public-housing rooms and suburban apartments offer more affordable options. Foreign professionals typically need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to eligibility, salary and qualification requirements; dependants may qualify for related passes. Relocating workers should arrange medical insurance, secure accommodation, and check tax, schooling and employment-pass rules before arrival. Singapore has a tropical climate, so expect year-round heat, humidity and frequent rain.
