Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in engineering, aerospace, electronics, defence, logistics, technology, finance, healthcare and advanced manufacturing. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work and in daily life. The city is clean, highly connected and safe, although rent and general living costs can be high. Public transport is efficient, and hawker centres provide affordable local food. Employment usually requires an employer-sponsored work pass. S Pass is commonly used for eligible technical and associate-professional roles, while the Employment Pass is aimed at higher-salaried professionals; approval depends on salary, qualifications, experience and government criteria. New arrivals should budget for housing deposits, medical insurance, transport and utilities. Popular residential areas include the east, north-east and central suburbs. Singapore’s warm, humid climate, compact size and international community make relocation relatively straightforward for prepared candidates.
