Destination Guide

Singapore offers strong opportunities in finance, payroll, technology, engineering, logistics, manufacturing, healthcare and professional services. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences, with English widely used at work. Life is convenient and generally safe, supported by excellent public transport, modern healthcare, shopping and diverse food options. Housing is the main expense, particularly in central areas, while public transport and local meals can be relatively affordable. Foreign professionals usually need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass; eligibility depends on salary, qualifications, experience and prevailing government criteria. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, banking, medical coverage and tax registration, and understand CPF rules, as CPF generally applies to eligible Singapore citizens and permanent residents rather than most foreign employees. The compact island makes commuting easy, although the climate is hot and humid year-round.
